Exploring the Eolian Islands: Mte. Rosa climb

Not a long hike but a very steep and challenging hike.

Leaving the hotel after breakfast we rendezvoused with our guide at the marina. We then started a steep ascent up a concrete path. At the end of the path another climb along a pumice track.

Along the route the wildflowers and herbs were stunning. Wild capers were abundant along side of the path.

As we ascended further up Mte. Rosa the sea views were fabulous.

After descending back to the marina time for a refreshing beer.

Then off to explore the old walled town with it’s archeological sites and cathedral.

Tired and hungry, time for a light lunch. I ordered a bruschetta, however the delight that arrived greatly exceeded my expectations!

The afternoon was free so I enjoyed a refreshing swim in the pool before meeting up for pre dinner drinks and dinner in the piazza.
