Autumn Cruise Adventure Day7: Zeebrugge

Slept so well! Quick dash to grab a smoothie and pastry for breakfast from the buffet on deck 16, the deck above me. Then disembarked at 8.20 to join the excursion to Bruges.

Bombarded with information from the moment the coach driver started the engine. Half an hour later and enlightened on the import and export of motor vehicles from Zeebrugge we reached the drop off point in Bruges.

The excursion included a walking tour, a boat trip and free time.

Time for a hot chocolate and waffle

Afternoon at leisure started at The Church of Our Lady to see Michelangelo’s Madonna.

Of curious interest to me was the Coats of Arms of the knights of the Golden Fleece. Made me think of Monty Python.

Opposite the church, the old hospital museum.

One thing I learned about Bruges was how the town takes care of others and has an inherent sense of compassion and community and this was epitomised by the old hospital and according to our guide is still evident today.

A bit of shopping and back to the coach and the short journey back to the port.

Evening meet up at Anderson’s then onto dinner.

Sandwiched between the cheesecake starter and dessert, the main course was roast chicken.

After dinner a couple of drinks in the Emerald Bar before heading to the karaoke.

Another busy day!
