Today was a day full of surprises. My perception of Gdansk was clearly influenced by memories of Lech Walesa and the Solidarity movement. I’d expected a port town akin to Immingham (not that I have anything against Immingham).
The ship docked in nearby Gdynia, again more pleasant than expected.

I joined 10 other passengers for the day in Gdansk which included a tour of the old town, amber talk, Pierogi making and eating, and finally Goldwasser tasting.
On the short journey to Gdansk old town we passed through the suburbs and memorials to the strikers who died.

Once in Gdansk the guide chatted endlessly about the historic city, which had been a major Hanseatic port.

After a talk about amber, some free time before the cooking class.

Obviously the pierogies were for lunch. Mine were washed down with a local beer!

After a delightful lunch, Goldwasser tasting.

Then back to the minibus for the short drive back to Aurora.
Back on board time for a swim before dinner.
