Summer Cruise Adventure: Ålesund and Sky-high views of Strandafjellet

Leisurely start to the day as my excursion started at 10. Ålesund seemed extremely busy due to three cruise ships in port. Fortunately my day involved travelling along the fjord inland to the ski resort of Stranda. The journey to Stranda took about an hour and a half.

We arrived at the Stranda cable car to ascend the mountain, where at the top waffles and coffees were served. The weather was perfect, hot and sunny and the views were spectacular.

After admiring the views, we descended the mountain.

The return journey was delightful. Passing through the countryside and crossing the fjord by electric ferry.

We arrived back at three, full of informative facts about Norway including: ‘on the left is a golf course, popular with people who like golf’; ‘Eric Clapton once went fishing here, but didn’t catch anything’ and my favourite ‘ these are electric lines which take electricity to places that need electricity’.

Time to embark the ship and enjoy the afternoon by the pool.

Late lunch overlooking Ålesund

As usual the solos met up in the bar before dinner.

After dinner drinks and chatting in the bar.
