Summer Cruise Adventure: Active day in Olden

Awoke cruising through the fjord en route to Olden. After a leisurely breakfast, disembarked to find the coach for my first activity, a walk to Briksdal glacier.

The very scenic drive to the drop off point lasted about 30 miles, including a photo stop.

After the short drive, arrived at the very busy car park for the walk to Briksdal.

The walk along gravel paths to the glacier is under 3km. Due to the recent weather the rivers and waterfalls along the path were very high. The walk was fascinating as along the path signs indicated where the glacier was through the centuries.

After the walk, a lovely drive back to Olden

Arriving back in Olden just after 1, I popped into ‘Olden Adventure’ to check out any afternoon activities were happening. Fortunately a kayak tour was available at 2pm. I hurried back to my cabin, dumped my backpack and changed into a suitable outfit.

Although not an exactly experienced kayaker, I thoroughly enjoyed paddling around in the fjord. The weather was amazing, about 28C.

Kayaking through the fjord was an amazing experience, especially in such weather. Despite quite a strong breeze we managed to make it back safely for embarkation at 5pm.

A quick shower before meeting up with the solo travellers for pre dinner drinks. Tonight we chose to dine in the Glass House.

The chatter flowed and after dinner we relocated to a nearby bar! Lovely end to a busy day.
