Summer Cruise Adventure: Embarkation Day

Aurora sails from Southampton so my adventure commenced with an overnight stay at The Carnarvon Arms, Highclere, just south of Newbury.

The Carnarvon Arms

There is a friendly ambience in the pub, the rooms are comfortable but also there is no single supplement.

Comfy room

The food was very tasty, especially the rhubarb and ginger cheesecake which I would highly recommend. This i washed down with a fabulous negroni.

After a very good night’s sleep, breakfast.

Egg’s Royale

Left mid morning for Southampton. A34 was quiet and arrived at Mayflower terminal 11.30. Car dropped off outside the terminal and embarked a couple of hours early!

Time for a light lunch from the buffet.

Sweltering temperatures in Southampton required a quick cooling swim.

Cool dip in the pool

Sail away…

There is so much going on once we have set sail.

For solo travellers a meet up in Anderson’s bar. Then dinner before the first show. Tonight a Freddy Mercury tribute act.

Then party band Pulse

And much to my surprise, negroni in the bar!

Sea day tomorrow.
